New Delhi: Global technology leader, Samsung India today introduced a slew of exciting, high tech, lifestyle oriented Digital Media products -Digital Slim Cameras and Digital Camcorders in the Indian market, redefining the concept of personal entertainment and mobility. The Company today announced the launch of 7 new Digital Still cameras with resolution ranging from 6.0 Mega pixel to 10.0 Mega pixel and 4 new, feature packed Digital camcorders, including two DVD Camcorder models. “The new Digital Still Camera range launched by us captures the growing trend amongst consumers to go in for higher camera resolutions within a more sleek and stylish form factor”, states Mr R Zutshi , Dy. Managing Director , Samsung India .
The flagship model of the new Digital Still Camera range is the i70 model -7.2 Megapixel camera with 3x Optical Zoom & 3 inch 230,000- Pixel wide LCD with Sliding cover. Samsung i70 is a multifunctional digital Camera that offers 7 multimedia functions including a camcorder(MPEG4 Movie Recorder) , MP3 Player , Portable Multimedia player , Text Viewer , Voice Recorder and Portable Disk all inside a Slim Camera body. The Samsung i70 provides an expressive dynamic graphical user interface and nine keys for intuitive , convenient operation of the camera .With Face Recognition AF&AE , the Samsung i70 enables the user to take excellent portrait pictures easily .With its Character Input Function , a user can take a picture and then leave a note on the picture in English , Korean , Chinese or special characters. Some of other advanced features of this Camera include Advanced Shake Reduction (ASR) , Special edit/effect function that adds pleasure to picture taking and editing as well as PictBridge Support .The i70 is priced at Rs 23,990/-.
Two other Samsung DSC offerings with 7.2 Mega Pixel camera resolutions are the L73 and the L700. Priced at Rs 18,490/- and Rs.14,990/- respectively , these models come with a 3x Optical Zoom , 2.5″ TFT colour LCD , a lightweight aluminium body , MPEG 4 movie mode and high sensitivity ISO 1600 support .The L73 also offers innovative Smart Touch user interface , advanced shake reduction (ASR) , Face Recognition AF&AE for clear portrait pictures and Mpeg4 movie in SVGA quality .
The Samsung S1030 and S850 , with 10.1 Mega pixel and 8.1 Mega pixel camera resolution , come with 3x/5x Optical Zoom , MPEG 4 movie mode , ASR and high sensitivity ISO 1600 support. The S1030 comes with a 2.7″ Large Bright Colour LCD, User friendly ‘E’ Button for direct access to special photo effects, user friendly Mode dial and Quick Print Button .The S 850 comes with the Wise Shot function which takes 2 pictures simultaneously (ASR and Flash) in delicate light conditions and stores both the pictures to let the user select the better one later .While the S1030 is priced at Rs 18,990/- , the S850 is priced at Rs.15,990/-.
The S630 and the S730 represent the entry level camera models with 6.0 and 7.2 Mega pixel camera resolution, 3x Optical zoom , 2.5″ TFT Colour LCD , ASR function and ‘E’ Button to access various photo effect directly .While the S630 is priced at Rs 9990/- , the S730 is priced at Rs.10,990/- .With the launch of these new models , Samsung has a range of 10 Digital Still Cameras , including the advanced Samsung NV series launched in the Indian market last year. The NV10 , with its 10.1 Mega pixel camera resolution and its superior Schneider KREUZNACH lens , continues to be the high point of the Samsung DSC offering. “With the introduction of our new , advanced 2007 DSC range and the channel enhancement that we have carried out both in our Consumer Electronics channel as well as our Photographic channel recently , we are looking at doubling our market shares in this category this Year.” states Mr Zutshi. With the introduction of the new DSC range, Samsung has 10 DSC models priced in the range between Rs.9,990/- and Rs.27,990/-.As an introductory offer , the Company is giving a 1GB card free with all the Digital Still Cameras.
Samsung India today also launched 4 new , advanced Digital camcorders in the Indian market . With the launch of its entry level VP-D371 digital camcorder with 34X optical Zoom & 6.8 cm wide LCD at Rs 14,990/-, Samsung has set a new benchmark in the industry by breaching the Rs 15,000 mark for digital camcorders . “With our aggressive pricing, we are looking at facilitating a faster upgradation from the analogue to the digital camcorder category” , states Mr Zutshi. The VP-D975Wi Digital Camcorder comes with Optical 26x ,Digital 1200x Zoom lens ; 6.8 cm wide LCD using a 16:9 wide screen format for capturing all the action ; SD/MMC Memory card ; Digital Image Stabilizer ; PictBridgeTM and MPEG 4 Movie function .It is priced at Rs 25,490/-
The flagship of the new Digital Camcorder range is the VP-DC 173i DVD Camcorder model that allows a user to shoot and record videos directly on DVD .Some of the unique features that this model is equipped with include , 34x Schneider Optical Zoom , 1200x Digital Zoom ; VOICE Plus that enables a user to narrate over a pre-recorded movie via the camcorder’s microphone ; LCD enhancer for better contrast in bright daylight shooting ; SD/MMC Memory card ; Digital Image Stabilizer ; PictBridgeTM , MPEG 2 Movie function and a Remote Control. It is priced at Rs 21,990/- .Samsung’s premium DVD model VP-575Wi comes with 26x Schneider Optical Zoom , 1200x Digital zoom ; 1.1 Megapixel CCD ; 6.8 cm wide LCD Screen ; VOICE Plus ; ; SD/MMC Memory card ; Digital Image Stabilizer ; PictBridgeTM , MPEG 4 Movie function and a Remote Control. It is priced at Rs 28,990/-. With the introduction of the new models, Samsung Digital Camcorder range is available in the price range between Rs. 14,990/- to Rs 28,990/- . The Company is giving two batteries , Two DVDs and a Carry bag free with all the Camcorder models .
