Their third foray into the point-and-shoot PMP market, Samsung’s 8.1-megapixel i85 adds a 5x optical zoom, 3-inch LCD screen and a face detection system. The i85 comes loaded with 256 MB of built-in internal memory, which is above average for a digital camera but miniscule for a PMP that plays videos. SD and SDHC cards can be used for additional memory, but max out at 8GB.
Users must convert their videos with the included Digital Converter software to the camera’s native SVGA resolution (800 by 592 pixels). The Samsung i85 will be available in the fall and will retail for $349.
