Oh boy...there ya go. I don't even know how much you paid for this set up. Niiiice....you're right about the no-meter set up. When I use my M6 I find that it slows me down.

Enough to agitate me, that's for sure. Actually the lens cost more than the body, amusingly.

One thing I do find fascinating is that, it being made in 1969, it's about ready to turn 40 years old. It's amazing to have machinery that is just built so solidly that it only fails to standard expected wear but is always rebuildable.

Actually, one thing I'll add is that even though I do consider Leica to be costly, I was able to offset the Summicron cost almost 1 for 1 by offloading my 24-70L.

Next up: Noctilux. Haha, i'm kidding!

Yeah buy a Noctilux so I can borrow it :) I did the same thing when I purchased a new scanner...sold a bunch of my EOS lenses.

Noctilux would buy both of us a Coolscan 9000.
kediwah 2008-12-11 02:12:02
That it would.. :) I meant that I offloaded a few of my lenses to buy something else. hehe..

Yeah I hear ya.. good old photographic commodities.

I considered a 9000 at one time, with the intent that I'd be playing with MF at some point in time.. however, since most of my stuff is 135 format now, the 5000 is good enough. One thing though, with the 8k and 9k even though it might be slower to load the loader and the such, I think the scans will be better because the negs will be flatter.

One day, maybe.

Either way, congrats on your new digital camera, John! :-P
